07 What is the Gospel?

This is the Gospel

Jesus who is Lord of Lords shed His blood for you and died, your sins being that you can not and do not wish to follow the 1st Commandment, which is to love God with all your heart mind and soul.   Original sin in Adam was that man thought he would be like God by walking away from the Lordship of Christ and of God.  Therefore now today we are born separated from God and our posture is outside and away from the kingdom of God as lords of our own world.

The Lord Jesus Christ came and died for your sin in order that you can be restored back into His kingdom as well as to have your sins washed away be His sacrifice on the cross.  All this is available to you if you will only believe on the the Lord Jesus Christ, and whereby “… if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”  John 8:31,32.   John 3:16ff says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life … But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.  The word believe is further defined as you go through the book of John and other parts of the Bible.

The reason we believe is to be restored back into the kingdom of God.  Beware of false teachers who cherry pick believe out of the context of the Bible.

Jude 4 says:  “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.  I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.  How did they not believe?, because they could not obey nor repent.  Numbers 14 says:

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the Lord brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. … Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; 23 Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:”

See also Titus 1

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. 16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

If you have believed Jesus can save you and you continue in His word, by this you know you have “everlasting life”.

Not by your works are you now one of the elect and are saved

John 1:12-13 says:   But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”  …  John 6:44No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. … 64-65  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

The Gospel is NOT defined as man being a co-savior with Jesus Christ.  If you had to work your way to heaven you would have to keep the greatest of all commandments perfectly:  To love God with all your heart mind and soul as defined in the life of Jesus Christ.  No man can do this.  Romans 9:32 says concerning the those who could not believe, that they were not saved  “Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law.”  They trusted rather in their own righteous deeds, rather than the righteousness of Jesus Christ.  The very definition of Biblical salvation means that you are set apart from your own works, you can not lose your salvation anymore then you could lose your faith.

Christ saves you to good works that you may walk in them and bear fruit, in Christ you are a new creation

By the work of the Holy Spirit in your life you can turn away from sinning as you make Jesus Lord.  Christ’s good works save you, and thereafter as you walk in His kingdom and continue as His disciple you stop a life defined foremost by sin.  You can not believe on Christ to then be a disciple of Satan.  You can not be a disciple of Satan and a disciple of Christ and be one of God’s chosen elect and of His sheep.  All who are in Christ go though a process of sanctification and bear fruit, John 15:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.  Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

See also Matthew 25 ending with “And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Likewise the seeds which do not bear fruit in Luke 8 are not of the elect:

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

If you can bear fruit you have true faith in Christ as Lord of your salvation and life.
